“let the mystery of life hold you, while proceeding with grace and curiosity for who you are and what life is bringing you” – Steph Wall Yoga

At the end of September, Steph hosted a Yoga retreat at La Calma in the jungle of Tulum, Mexico. Yoga, travel, and tequila brought us all together in Mexico and there was no shortage of laughs, jungle sweat, or cervezas.

A hot minute with Steph:

What was the inspiration for Strong & Free Mexico edition? Prior to the Strong and Free Retreat in Mexico, all my retreats had been run in partnership with someone else. I wanted to challenge myself and do something on my own this time. I wanted to step up and do something that would challenge me to really live Strong and Free! I chose Mexico specifically because I wanted to go somewhere I had already been to, already fallen in love with, and knew we would be safe and comfortable. Tacos and margaritas were a factor in this decision as well.

Style of yoga that inspires and challenges you? Vinyasa all the way!! I love teaching something so fluid and graceful. It gives me the gift of creative expression, whether I am teaching it or practicing it. It can hold me like a baby when I need it, and it can challenge me like a bitch when I need it.

Favorite food dish in Mexico? Drink?! Fish tacos and una y dos y tres cervezas 🙂

There’s something to be said about chasing snow, and this season I think we can all agree that the chase is on. With lower than normal amounts of the fluffy white stuff on the west coast of Canada and the USA, there seems to be no shortage on the east coast, or Europe, or Japan! So what are we left to do? Chase it of course, all the way to Japan! Our Canadian babe friend Ashley who now resides in the wonderful land down under, took a trip to Japan and found endless amounts of snow in trees, on trees, and around trees. With an average of 30-50 cm’s most days, her and the crew road tripped from resort to resort starting in Hakuba Cortina and Nozawa for a lil backcountry, and through Rusutsu and Kiroro in Hokkaido for its incredible tree runs. From resort life to city life, they experienced all Japan has to offer while also taking in all the culture from the downtown nightlife of Tokyo and rural areas of Shibuya, Shinjuku and Harajuku. Wild monkeys, Japanese onsen, beer vending machines, all you can drink karaoke, and 30+ cm’s of snow, the memories are endless, and priceless.
